DfT Bus Open Data Service Information
The Bus Open Data Service provides timetables, bus location, and fares data for local bus services across England. It is free open data, and does not require a licence. Simply start using the APIs or downloading data for your analysis, apps, products or services.
DfT Bus Statistics
The DfT provides statistics on the local bus sector in Great Britain, presenting information on passenger journeys, vehicle miles, levels of revenue, costs and government support, the vehicle fleet, staff employed and other indicators including punctuality. The department also collects statistics on concessionary travel, covering pass holders, journeys, expenditure and reimbursement to operators.
The majority of these statistics are updated annually, with information on bus fares available quarterly.
Passenger Technology Group Open Data Portal
The Passenger Technology Group data portal, enables anyone to download the source data they use in providing operator digital services.
The data is updated automatically when operators update Passenger Cloud, our digital service platform, for example when they make a change to their timetables or network. The hosted data is indexed by the DfT’s Bus Open Data Service.
